MiniSpin®/ MiniSpin® plus
Entry–level centrifuges that are powerful and easy–to–use. They are small enough so that each workstation can be equipped with a personal centrifuge. Two models are available to meet your performance requirements.
The compact Eppendorf Centrifuge Model 5702 is a quiet, high-quality centrifuge that provides exceptional value for low-speed centrifugation in the low- to mid-throughput range. It holds a remarkable amount of tubes for its size, and it quickly spins a variety of popular cell culture and blood tubes in a choice of rotors. Accommodating either fixed-angle or swing-bucket rotors, its versatility addresses your exact needs. With state-of-the-art features at an economical price, this centrifuge is sure to please you as well as your budget.
All 5702 models can be used in a range of settings, from the clinical lab to the cell culture lab. With various fixed-angle and swing-bucket rotors available, they can accommodate almost any kind of tube.
The economical centrifuge for the clinical lab. With various fixed-angle and swing-bucket rotors and an extensive range of adapters, nearly all types of tubes can be used.
Another advantage is that all rotors within the 5702 line have been designed for interchangeability.
Large-scale tasks, compact solutions.
The Centrifuge Model 5702, with its space-saving (12.5 × 16 in) footprint and innovative design, can accommodate a remarkable30 x 15 mL round-bottom tubes or 20 × 15 mL conical tubes. Your choiceof fixed-angle or swing-bucket rotors provides flexibility for low-speedcentrifugation of sensitive cells and blood. The A-4-38 Swing-bucket Rotorcan spin up to four 85 mL tubes in aerosol-tight buckets at rcf up to 3,000 × g. A variety of adapters accept all common standard, conicaland blood collection tubes. For applications requiring higher tube capacity, rectangular buckets for up to 24 x 15 mL glass tubes can be used. Two versions of the F-35-30-17 Fixed-angle Rotor are available for a capacity of up to 30 × 15 mL. A simple, eight-place swing-bucket rotor is also available for 15 mL conical tubes.
Features

Maintenance-free drive adjustable to speeds up to 4,400 rpm
Swing-bucket and fixed-angle rotors accommodate a wide range of conical, blood and standard plastic and glass tubes from 1.1 mL to 85 mL
Automatic “soft-touch” locking
Quick acceleration and deceleration
Optimised air flow keeps samples cool
A separate short spin button makes quick spins a snap.
Convenient features for easy operation.
State-of-the-art, yet simple, this centrifuge is easy to operate. Themotorized “soft-touch” lid makes loading and closing effortless. The time and speed knobs allow you to set and adjust these parameters quickly and easily: speed can be setin rpm or rcf (g-force), eliminating the need for tedious calculations;and settings can be changed during a run. You can also lock your settingsto protect them against unintentional adjustment.
Once the parameters are set, simply press the time knob to start yourpre-programmed run. When complete, an audible signal at the end of therun alerts you to remove your sensitive samples; the motorised lid unlocks automatically for easy, one-handed access.
Easy to operate
Clear digital display and easy-to-use knobs
Automatic “soft-touch” locking
Setting in rpm or rcf
Extremely quiet operation
Separate short spin button
Speed can be set from 100 rpm to 4,400 rpm in increments of 100 rpm
Timer can be set up to 99 minutes or continuous run
The centrifuges can be operated in ambient conditions of 10 - 40 °C. The permitted relative humidity must not exceed 75 %. When transferring the centrifuge from a colder into a warmer environment, the centrifuge must either be allowed to run warm for a half an hour in the cooling room or it must be allowed to warm up in the warmer environment for at least 3 hours. During this time, it must not be connected to a power source. In order to avoid damage from condensation, centrifuges should generally not be submitted to frequent temperature changes.
The measured noise level is less than 49 dB(A) / 52 dB(A) (MiniSpin / MiniSpin plus). Both centrifuges are therefore distinguished by an extremely quiet run.
The error code "Err 5" appears on the display of the centrifuge if the lid latch is defective. If this error occurs during centrifugation, the device must remain switched on without being operated for 8 minutes. After that, the centrifuge lid can be opened by pressing the "open" button.
The maximum rotational speed that can be set for the MiniSpin is 13,400 rpm, equal to 12,100 x g. The maximum rotational speed for the MiniSpin plus is 14,500 rpm, equal to 14,100 x g.
The lowest rotational speed that can be set for both centrifuges is 800 rpm, equal to approx. 50 x g. In contrast to the MiniSpin, the MiniSpin plus can be switched back and forth between rcf and rpm by simultaneously pressing the "speed" arrow keys.
The silver rotor F-45-12-11 may only be used in the MiniSpin as it is only permitted for the lower maximum rotational speed of this centrifuge. However, this rotor can no longer be ordered. Instead, like the MiniSpin plus, the MiniSpin is now supplied with the black rotor F-45-12-11.
These so-called spin columns can be used when the rotor lid used is made of stainless steel. This application is not possible with the older polypropylene lid. Almost all spin columns from a variety of purification kits can be used with the stainless steel lid. The Application Hotline ([email protected]) would be pleased to answer any further questions concerning tube dimensions.
The polypropylene lid for the rotor F-45-12-11 of the MiniSpin/ MiniSpin plus can no longer be ordered. In its place, a stainless steel lid distinguished by a high degree of chemical resistance and enabling the use of particularly long and previously unusable spin columns is now available under the order number 5452 702.000.
